Biography
Wladimir Vladimirovich Klitschko, born Semipalatinsk, USSR in 1976, held versions of the heavyweight title for 9 years and 7 months (April 2006 – November 2015) — the second-longest heavyweight reign in history after Joe Louis. At 6'6" with a 81-inch reach and a PhD in sports science, he constructed an offensively risk-averse, defensively impeccable system built on the longest jab in heavyweight history and a finishing right cross. He defended his unified titles 18 times. Lost to Tyson Fury in November 2015 by unanimous decision, fought once more (a loss to Anthony Joshua in April 2017) and retired. The 2015 loss ended what was the most dominant heavyweight era of the four-belt structure.
