Biography

Saúl Álvarez, born Guadalajara, Mexico in 1990, became undisputed four-belt super middleweight world champion in November 2021 by stopping Caleb Plant in the 11th round — the first Mexican fighter ever to hold all four belts in any division. He turned pro at 15, beat his first 32 opponents, lost to Floyd Mayweather (UD) in September 2013, and has been a marquee PPV draw ever since. His May 2022 light-heavyweight loss to Dmitry Bivol stalled the 175-pound push; he avenged the controversial first Golovkin draw (2017) and split decision (2018) in a 2022 trilogy bout. As of 2026 he remains the most commercially powerful fighter in the world.
